At the Miskolc Autistic Foundation in 2013, the goal of the Palánta project was to create a therapeutic garden and horticulture where stress-reducing and meaningful activity can be provided for people with disabilities and where it is possible to employ suitable young people with the least possible external resources, which gives rise to financial and non-material benefits.
Garden therapy is a process that applies plants and gardening to the social, educational, psychological and physical rehabilitation of the person, to improve the condition of the body, the mind, and the soul. Therapeutic gardening provides the living space, opportunity for development, social inclusion (real role) for the disabled. The sense of importance (a sense of function) is assured, confirming that these people, notwithstanding their disability, are not only kings at the neck of the society but also useful members of it. They can contribute to the supply of kitchen raw materials, produce goods (eg dried herbs), enrich race diversity as a bio-garden and improve the climatic environment. Last but not least, as a demonstration garden, a therapeutic garden is an excellent location for volunteer activities.
